STRATEGIES ON DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life samples odds are they will never be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Whitestone LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds establish unforgettable brand identities. We have performed brand design work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered no matter of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of project we take on, logo design, web page, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s work to agencies located outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Whitestone organization realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups fully comprehend the pivotal role their logo can perform in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo performs better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining influence on the financial success of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Whitestone companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something to make sure that it could be identified, its origin comes from the brand burned onto livestock. These days a brand signifies virtually anything with an objective, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone mentions the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the history of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising agencies. When someone states they are in advertising most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the perception of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and also software interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, results and also assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Whitestone coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an old part of the city and hoped to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both tasks by designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs designed for Whitestone clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and even more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Whitestone.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - designed for Whitestone traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Whitestone logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Whitestone logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their business logo recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Whitestone publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most vital part of a published book because it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many cases 1 of the items consumers tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was definitely a success.

Whitestone logo style utilized for marketing and a tag design for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Whitestone, design include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it appears that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Whitestone hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which communicated an atmosphere of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design developed for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct business logo concept fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a distinctive head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable horse lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Whitestone restaurant logo style a small restaurant, style includes a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, style contains a modified script typeface which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the style attributes and renowned Whitestone element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Develop logo layout produced for a Whitestoneinterior designer, style attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Whitestone interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Whitestone, the characters for letter V and also A in center of the word progressed have been customized to link straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Whitestone logo design project was done for a leadership coach that helps business professionals to become more efficient at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Whitestone business logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Whitestone logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Whitestone company logo style has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Whitestone regional farm it was in reality devised for a products broker, and this logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce a graphic that projected self-assurance, financial success, and opulence.

Whitestone Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a well-known Whitestone sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
