Charlotte Logo Design

Each and every new Charlotte venture knows they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners entirely grasp the crucial role their logo will take in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design works far better than another. A business logo has an instant and long-term impact on the success of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Charlotte businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Charlotte coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old section of the area and hoped to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of developing a company logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Charlotte clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Charlotte.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - created for Charlotte traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Charlotte logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Charlotte logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial point of views on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Charlotte publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the aspects consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Charlotte logo design made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Instance includes an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Charlotte, style include an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it appears that virtually every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which carried a sense of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo design for a software program designer the style features as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Charlotte logo design dsign with an illustration which captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really produced for an Charlotte regional farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this business logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. Logo design developed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
