TIPS FOR PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be judged from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real world samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

High Point LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brands. We’ve performed logo design work for farmers, schools, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee roasters, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to do, we perform in-house. Regardless of the type of design project we take on, logo design, web site, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to agencies based outside the US. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your project and dictates the conditions of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new High Point business realizes that they probably need a logo, however few start ups thoroughly recognize the key role their business logo will perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help High Point companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need consideration, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of marking something so that it could be identified, its genesis comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Today a brand symbolizes basically anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody states the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of many branding companies you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing agencies. When a person states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person claims “I’m in branding”… it just sounds more attractive, possibly it’s because the majority of people don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual elements of a product or company that influence understandings. This mostly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used but can also consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps form the perception of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also build web sites and also software interfaces. The vital function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of affecting actions, results and also perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bike created for a High Point coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an old part of the town and wanted to project a nostalgic vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by designing a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs made for High Point medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family fun facility in High Point.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for High Point traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  High Point logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

High Point logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for High Point publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, however it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is usually the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many instances one of the traits folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

High Point logo layout utilized for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in High Point, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a High Point hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that communicated a feeling of peace and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is frequently the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the attention on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian horse logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind brand concept fashioned to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With an identifiable head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A High Point Coffee shop logo design a tiny restaurant, layout contains a modified manuscript font which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design includes a changed manuscript font which floats above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software application developer the design functions and also famous High Point element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Progress logo style created for a High Pointindoor designer, design feature a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a High Point interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who prepares, researches, collaborates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in High Point, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of the word progressed have actually been customized to tie directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This High Point logo design job was done for a management expert that helps business leaders to develop into more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A High Point business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their High Point logo design design with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this High Point company logo style has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an High Point regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to develop a graphic that projects self-confidence, success, and affluence.

High Point Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a famous High Point sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
