High Point, North Carolina Logo Design

Nearly every new High Point business understands that they require a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly realize the key role their business logo will take in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design functions better than another. A business logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the viability of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help High Point, North Carolina businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.
Retro logo design of a bike created for a High Point, North Carolina coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an old part of the city and wanted to project a vintage feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both tasks by developing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria created for High Point, North Carolina clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the laboratory examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable center in High Point, North Carolina.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for High Point, North Carolina traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  High Point logo but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

High Point logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased judgements on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s share of challenges, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for High Point, North Carolina publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a published book because it is usually the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many cases one of the traits consumers often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was surely a success.

High Point logo design used for marketing and a tag design for Vintage Case includes an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in High Point, North Carolina, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which communicated a sense of tranquility and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious path of creating merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program developer the layout features and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their High Point business logo dsign using a graphic which seizes the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually composed for an High Point, North Carolina area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to create a graphic that projects confidence, financial success, and wealth.

High Point Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to create a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
