Matthews, North Carolina Logo Design

Every new Matthews business person realizes that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the vital role their logo design can perform in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design performs far better than another. A logo design has a critical and sustaining influence on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Matthews, North Carolina businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Matthews, North Carolina coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older part of the town and wished to project a vintage vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by means of creating a logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Matthews, North Carolina medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a family enjoyable center in Matthews, North Carolina.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for Matthews, North Carolina travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Matthews logo but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Matthews logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo understand how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Matthews, North Carolina publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences one of the items folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Matthews logo design utilized for marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an archaic font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Matthews, North Carolina, design include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to summarize specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which carried an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo design for a software application developer the design functions and also famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Matthews logo design dsign using an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Matthews, North Carolina area farm it was really designed for an investments broker, and this business logo was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to develop a graphic that projected trust, success, and affluence.

Matthews Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is similar to a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
