New Bern Logo Design

Nearly every new New Bern business knows they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully understand the essential role their company logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and long-term impact on the growth of a business, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help New Bern businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a New Bern coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an older section of the community and wished to project a retro feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by means of creating a logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria developed for New Bern medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the clinical examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in New Bern.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for New Bern travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New Bern logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

New Bern logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for New Bern publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it looks like that in many instances 1 of the traits people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was certainly a victory.

New Bern logo design made use of for marketing and also a label style for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in New Bern, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it appears that every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which related a feeling of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather created a business logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo design for a software application developer the layout features and famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their New Bern logo dsign with a graphic which seizes the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually created for an New Bern area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular trademark was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to create a graphic that projected assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.
Logo created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
