TIPS FOR SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real life examples odds are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Statesville LOGO DESIGN

We’ve done logo design work for mechanics, universities, heart surgeons, party planners, bistros, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can imagine. As a result of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might have found in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are brought on board to do, we perform in-house. Irrespective of the type of design project we accept, logo design, web page, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the US. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your project and determines the conditions of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Statesville entrepreneur understands that they probably need a logo, however few start-ups fully grasp the key role their logo can make in their success, or exactly why one logo functions better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term impact on the success of a business, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Statesville companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something so that it could be recognized, its origin originates from the mark burned onto livestock. Today a brand indicates virtually anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market will likely relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of most branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded advertising and marketing firms. When somebody states they are in marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when someone says “I am in branding”… it just seems more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that most individuals do not recognize what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual elements of a product or agency that affect understandings. This primarily consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used however can additionally include audio, lighting, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some identity designers also design websites and also user interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes and also assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Statesville coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an older section of the area and hoped to project a nostalgic tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by developing a company logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria developed for Statesville medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Statesville.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Statesville travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Statesville logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Statesville logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Statesville publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, however it really is the most necessary part of a published book since it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the items individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of flight and it was certainly a success.

Statesville logo layout made use of for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Statesville, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects because it seems that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Statesville hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that communicated an atmosphere of relaxation and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style developed for an equine ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique brand concept styled to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With a different head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Statesville restaurant logo style a small dining establishment, design includes a changed manuscript font style which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized script font which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software programmer the style features as well as famous Statesville component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Progress logo style created for a Statesvilleindoor designer, layout feature a collection of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Statesville interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Statesville, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of words advanced have actually been changed to connect directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Statesville logo design project was done for a management specialist that helps business professionals to develop into more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Statesville business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Statesville business logo design using an image that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Statesville company logo layout has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Statesville area farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projected confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

Statesville Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is similar to a well-known Statesville sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the owner to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
