West Raleigh Logo Design

Every new West Raleigh business realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the key role their logo can play in their success, or precisely why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the growth of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help West Raleigh businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a West Raleigh coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of the community and really wanted to project a retro tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by developing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for West Raleigh medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family members fun center in West Raleigh.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for West Raleigh travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Raleigh logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

West Raleigh logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for West Raleigh publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was certainly a victory.

West Raleigh logo design used for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in West Raleigh, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which carried a feeling of relaxation and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is oftentimes the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software program programmer the design functions as well as legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their West Raleigh logo dsign using a graphic that captures the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an West Raleigh area farm it was in reality created for an investments broker, and this company logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to design an identity that projected assurance, success, and affluence.
Logo designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
