Wilmington Logo Design

Nearly every new Wilmington company realizes that they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully are aware of the key role their logo can take in their success, or the reason that one logo design performs better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term impact on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Wilmington companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be realized in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Wilmington coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older part of the town and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via designing a trademark design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs developed for Wilmington clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun center in Wilmington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Wilmington traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Wilmington logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Wilmington logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Wilmington publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it seems that in many cases one of the traits individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was surely a success.

Wilmington logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Wilmington, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that projected an atmosphere of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software programmer the style attributes and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in many cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Wilmington logo design dsign with an illustration that seizes the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Wilmington area farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this brand was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a image that projected esteem, success, and opulence.
Logo created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
