STRATEGIES ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not reimburse the amount of time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain actual samples odds are they will not be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Winston-Salem LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping business owners establish unforgettable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand identity design work for farmers, universities, heart surgeons, party planners, cafes, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or web headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

Something that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you may have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are enlisted to do, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of design project we undertake, logo, web site, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s projects to contractors located outside the United States. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the price of your design project and determines the terms of how we do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Winston-Salem entrepreneur knows they need a logo, but few start-ups entirely grasp the crucial role their business logo will play in their success, or the reason that one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Winston-Salem companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to ensure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand signifies basically anything with a motive, whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why people buy specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded advertising agencies. When someone claims they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when somebody claims “I’m in branding”… it just sounds more attractive, probably it’s since lots of people don’t know what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual aspects of a product or agency that affect view points. This mostly includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors utilized yet can likewise consist of sound, illumination, texture, signage, just about anything that can be seen, touched or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a company, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also build websites and user interfaces. The vital duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting activities, outcomes and perceptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Winston-Salem coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old part of town and really wanted to project a retro vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks via developing a symbol concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for Winston-Salem medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in Winston-Salem.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Winston-Salem traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Winston-Salem logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Winston-Salem logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how important a logo is for their organization so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Winston-Salem book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a published book considering that it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the traits individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

Winston-Salem logo layout utilized for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Winston-Salem, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design developed for a Winston-Salem hair layout studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that projected an atmosphere of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design developed for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind creative logo concept customized to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily identifiable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Winston-Salem Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which floats above a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny dining establishment, design includes a modified script typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the layout attributes as well as renowned Winston-Salem component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo style created for a Winston-Saleminterior developer, layout attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Winston-Salem, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have actually been modified to connect straight into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Winston-Salem logo design assignment was carried out for a management coach that helps business professionals to become more efficient at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Winston-Salem business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Winston-Salem logo design design utilizing an image that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Winston-Salem company logo layout has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Winston-Salem area farm it was really designed for an investments broker, and this logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to generate a brand mark that projected confidence, financial success, and prosperity.

Winston-Salem Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design created for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is similar to a well-known Winston-Salem sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
