Mandan, North Dakota Logo Design

Every new Mandan business professional knows they need a logo, yet few new business owners fully comprehend the key role their organization’s logo will perform in their success, or exactly why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term influence on the prosperity of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Mandan, North Dakota businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to movie screens a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.
Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Mandan, North Dakota coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an old section of the community and hoped to project a retro feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by means of designing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Mandan, North Dakota clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family members fun facility in Mandan, North Dakota.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Mandan, North Dakota traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the images they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Mandan logo design but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Mandan logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Mandan, North Dakota publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a published book considering that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many cases 1 of the things consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Mandan logo design made use of for advertising and also a tag layout for Vintage Case features an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Mandan, North Dakota, design include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that projected an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the importance on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo style for a software program designer the design features and also legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Mandan business logo dsign utilizing an image that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Mandan, North Dakota regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce a brand mark that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Mandan Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo made for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
