Williston, North Dakota Logo Design

Virtually every new Williston business person realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly grasp the vital role their organization’s logo can perform in their success, or precisely why one logo works far better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Williston, North Dakota businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be enduring and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Williston, North Dakota coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an old section of the city and really wanted to project a retro atmosphere without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by creating a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for Williston, North Dakota medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a household fun center in Williston, North Dakota.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for Williston, North Dakota traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Williston logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Williston logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Williston, North Dakota publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most vital part of a printed book since it is usually the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many cases 1 of the items individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Williston logo layout used for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Williston, North Dakota, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which related a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo design for a software application designer the style functions and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Williston business logo dsign with a graphic that captures the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Williston, North Dakota regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to develop a graphic that projects assurance, effectiveness, and prosperity.

Williston Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
