Akron, Ohio Logo Design

Each and every new Akron business understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely understand the essential role their company logo can perform in their success, or the reason that one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term effect on the financial success of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Akron, Ohio businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Akron, Ohio coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old part of the city and really wanted to project an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by means of developing a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Akron, Ohio clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Akron, Ohio.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Akron, Ohio traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Akron logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Akron logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Akron, Ohio publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a printed book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to confering a good sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Akron logo layout used for advertising and a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Akron, Ohio, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it seems that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that projected a feeling of relaxation and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious direction of making merely a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software developer the style features and also renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Akron logo dsign using an illustration that seizes the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Akron, Ohio area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a image that projected assurance, financial success, and opulence.

Akron Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design made for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
