STRATEGIES ON SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t refund the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain real life samples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Ashland LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping business owners grow unforgettable brand identities. We have done logo design work for mechanics, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have found in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, logo design, website design, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to contractors located outside the US. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the price of your project and determines the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Every new Ashland company realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully grasp the key role their organization’s logo can perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo performs far better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term effect on the viability of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Ashland businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of marking something to ensure that it can be recognized, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto animals. These days a brand signifies pretty much anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person states the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of the majority of branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and user interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes and assumptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Ashland coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually launching in an old section of the community and wanted to visualize a vintage vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs via designing a symbol concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Ashland medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable center in Ashland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - developed for Ashland travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ashland logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Ashland logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how important a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s portion of hurdles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Ashland publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is often the first thing a person views in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it looks like that in many occurrences one of the traits folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Ashland logo design used for marketing and a label design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Ashland, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that each and every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a Ashland hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which projected an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the attention on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct creative logo design customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having a different head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Ashland Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, style contains a modified manuscript typeface which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, style contains a customized manuscript font style which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software designer the layout features as well as renowned Ashland component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Advance logo layout developed for a Ashlandinterior designer, style function a series of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Ashland interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, investigates, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Ashland, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of the word advanced have been modified to connect straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Ashland logo design job was completed for a leadership advisor that aids business professionals to develop into more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Ashland business logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Ashland logo design utilizing a graphic which grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Ashland company logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Ashland regional farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this particular logo design was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to generate a image that projects assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.

Ashland Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned Ashland sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
