Boardman Logo Design

Virtually every new Boardman venture understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners fully grasp the crucial role their logo design can perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works far better than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the prosperity of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Boardman businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be realized in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Boardman coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older part of the community and wanted to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by means of creating a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Boardman medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable center in Boardman.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Boardman traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional journeys through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Boardman logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Boardman logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of hurdles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Boardman publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most important part of a printed book given that it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many instances one of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Boardman logo layout used for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Boardman, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that projected a feeling of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the importance on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words advanced have been modified to tie directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Boardman logo design project was done for a leadership consultant that helps business leaders to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Boardman logo dsign using an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Boardman area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this creative logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to create a graphic that projects esteem, success, and prosperity.
Logo developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is similar to a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
