POINTERS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be judged from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Hough LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We have undertaken logo design work for builders, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have come across in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. No matter the type of design project we undertake, logo design, website, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to contractors based outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the conditions of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Hough business understands that they probably need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly recognize the essential role their logo can perform in their success, or precisely why one business logo works far better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long-term impact on the viability of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Hough businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of noting something to make sure that it could be identified, its origin comes from the brand burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand indicates basically anything with an intention, whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing companies. When someone says they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop sites and software interfaces. The crucial role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, results and also understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Hough coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an old part of the area and really wanted to project a vintage vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs via creating a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Hough clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable facility in Hough.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - developed for Hough travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hough logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Hough logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how important a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Hough publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the traits individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Hough logo style used for advertising and a label style for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Hough, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style produced for a Hough hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that conveyed a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design produced for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original logo design customized to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having a distinctive head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable horse breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Hough Coffee shop logo style a small dining establishment, layout includes a changed script font which hovers above a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a little restaurant, style contains a changed script typeface which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the layout functions as well as legendary Hough component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Evolve logo style created for a Houghindoor designer, style function a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Hough interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who plans, researches, collaborates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Hough, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have actually been modified to connect straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Hough logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership coach that enables business leaders to develop into more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Hough business logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Hough logo design design along with an image that seizes the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Hough company logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really developed for an Hough regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this particular brand was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to develop a graphic that projected esteem, success, and luxury.

Hough Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a well-known Hough sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
