Kettering, Ohio Logo Design

Nearly every new Kettering business person understands that they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely understand the crucial role their logo design can play in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term influence on the financial success of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Kettering, Ohio businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand contemplation, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to movie screens a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Kettering, Ohio coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older part of town and wished to project an old-fashioned vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by developing a trademark design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as germs developed for Kettering, Ohio medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family enjoyable center in Kettering, Ohio.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Kettering, Ohio travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Kettering logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Kettering logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral viewpoints on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo recognize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s share of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Kettering, Ohio book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most necessary part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

Kettering logo style used for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Case includes an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Kettering, Ohio, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it appears that every single dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo that conveyed a feeling of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a company logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is generally the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application programmer the design features as well as renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Kettering logo design dsign with an illustration that pulls in the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Kettering, Ohio area farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this logo design was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a brand mark that projected self-confidence, success, and opulence.

Kettering Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo designed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
