Lancaster Logo Design

Each and every new Lancaster venture knows they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners fully understand the essential role their logo can take in their success, or why one logo design works better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term impact on the success of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lancaster businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Lancaster coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older section of town and really wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of developing a company logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Lancaster clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Lancaster.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Lancaster traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lancaster logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lancaster logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how important a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of hurdles, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Lancaster publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a published book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many cases one of the traits people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Lancaster logo layout made use of for marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Lancaster, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which communicated a spirit of contentment and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of crafting merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo style for a software program programmer the style features as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Lancaster business logo dsign with a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Lancaster regional farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. Logo made for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is evocative a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
