STRATEGIES FOR FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t reimburse the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real life samples odds are they will not be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Massillon LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping business owners cultivate memorable brand identities. We’ve performed brand identity design work for ranchers, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, diners, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our logo designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered no matter of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might possibly have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are retained to perform, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we accept, logo, business website, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s work to agencies located outside the United States. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Massillon company understands that they probably need a logo, but few start ups thoroughly understand the crucial role their logo design will play in their success, or the reason that one logo design works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term effect on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Massillon businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of noting something to ensure that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies practically anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising companies. When a person states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone states “I’m in branding”… it simply seems much more attractive, maybe it’s because most people don’t know what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or business that affect perceptions. This mostly consists of the name, the logo, the product packaging, the colors used yet can likewise include audio, lights, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop websites and also software interfaces. The vital duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes and also perceptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Massillon coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old section of the city and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by means of creating a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria developed for Massillon medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun facility in Massillon.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Massillon travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Massillon logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Massillon logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get objective point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how important a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of hurdles, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Massillon publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many instances one of the aspects folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Massillon logo design used for advertising and marketing and a tag design for Vintage Case features an old font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Massillon, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that virtually every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Massillon hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that conveyed an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout produced for an equine cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct business logo concept customized to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. With an unique head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Massillon restaurant logo layout a little restaurant, design consists of a changed script font style which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a little restaurant, style contains a customized manuscript font style which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style attributes and also iconic Massillon component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Develop logo layout developed for a Massillonindoor designer, design attribute a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Massillon interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Massillon, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have been changed to connect directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Massillon logo design project was completed for a leadership expert that helps business leaders to develop into more efficient at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Massillon business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Massillon logo design design using an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Massillon company logo design has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually composed for an Massillon regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this particular company was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to generate a graphic that projects esteem, financial success, and wealth.

Massillon Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design designed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a famous Massillon sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
