TIPS ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life samples chances are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Wadsworth LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping business owners grow notable brand identities. We’ve undertaken logo design work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, diners, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you probably have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are enlisted to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of design project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to contractors based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the cost of your project and determines the terms of how we do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Wadsworth organization understands that they probably need a logo, but few new business owners fully realize the essential role their business logo will perform in their success, or why one logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Wadsworth businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something so that it could be recognized, its origin originates from the mark branded onto animals. These days a brand signifies practically anything with a motive, regardless if it be earnings or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the target market can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody says the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why individuals get specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of most branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising agencies. When somebody states they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop websites as well as user interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes and also perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Wadsworth coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of the community and hoped to cast a nostalgic feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks via creating a company logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Wadsworth clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a family fun center in Wadsworth.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Wadsworth travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Wadsworth logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Wadsworth logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how crucial a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Wadsworth publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a published book given that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it looks like that in many instances 1 of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Wadsworth logo style made use of for marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Wadsworth, style include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style developed for a Wadsworth hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which related a feeling of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious route of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo style created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique organization logo concept tailored to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having a distinctive head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Wadsworth Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript typeface which floats above a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, design contains a changed manuscript font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the style attributes as well as famous Wadsworth element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Evolve logo design developed for a Wadsworthinterior developer, layout function a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Wadsworth interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who organizes, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Wadsworth, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word progressed have actually been changed to link directly right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Wadsworth logo design assignment was completed for a leadership guide that assists business leaders to develop into more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Wadsworth business logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Wadsworth logo design using an image that captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Wadsworth company logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t really produced for an Wadsworth area farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to create an identity that projected confidence, success, and affluence.

Wadsworth Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a popular Wadsworth sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
