Bixby Logo Design

Nearly every new Bixby venture understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly comprehend the key role their business logo can play in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design works more effectively than another. A company logo has a critical and long term influence on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Bixby companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Bixby coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old part of the city and wished to visualize a nostalgic tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by means of creating a trademark concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria developed for Bixby medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog developed for a family enjoyable center in Bixby.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Bixby travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bixby logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Bixby logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of hurdles, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Bixby book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book since it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances 1 of the traits people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Bixby logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Bixby, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair layout studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that carried a feeling of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo design which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is oftentimes the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the main focus on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software application designer the layout attributes and legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Bixby logo design dsign along with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really created for an Bixby regional farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this particular trademark was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create a brand mark that projected trust, success, and wealth.
Logo made for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is reminiscent of a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to create a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
