STRATEGIES ON IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual samples odds are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Oklahoma City LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brand identities. We have done branding work for builders, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have come across online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to do, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, logo design, web page, trade show display, or retail sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s work to agencies located outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the cost of your project and determines the conditions of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Oklahoma City business understands that they require a logo, but few start-ups thoroughly realize the essential role their business logo will perform in their success, or why one business logo functions far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term effect on the viability of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Oklahoma City companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be recognized, its foundation comes from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand represents pretty much anything with an intention, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody mentions the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising and marketing firms. When someone states they are in advertising the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when someone states “I am in branding”… it just sounds more attractive, probably it’s due to the fact that most individuals don’t know what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual components of a product or business that affect perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo, the product packaging, the different colors utilized yet can likewise include sound, lighting, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps shape the image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also design websites and also user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of affecting actions, results and also understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Oklahoma City coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an older part of town and really wanted to visualize a vintage vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by creating a business logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Oklahoma City clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family fun center in Oklahoma City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Oklahoma City travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Oklahoma City logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Oklahoma City logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo comprehend how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Oklahoma City book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book because it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the aspects consumers usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Oklahoma City logo style made use of for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Oklahoma City, design include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a Oklahoma City hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that carried a feeling of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo design created for a horse ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original company logo design customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. By having an unique head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Oklahoma City Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design consists of a customized script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny restaurant, layout includes a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style features and renowned Oklahoma City element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Develop logo style developed for a Oklahoma Cityindoor developer, layout feature a series of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Oklahoma City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, explores, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, site inspections, programming, research, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Oklahoma City, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of words progressed have been customized to link straight right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Oklahoma City logo design job was completed for a leadership consultant that aids business leaders to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Oklahoma City business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Oklahoma City logo design design using an illustration which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Oklahoma City company logo layout has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really developed for an Oklahoma City regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to design an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and luxury.

Oklahoma City Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a renowned Oklahoma City sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to create a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
