Albany, Oregon Logo Design

Nearly every new Albany venture realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly recognize the key role their logo will perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design works far better than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term influence on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Albany, Oregon companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be realized in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Albany, Oregon coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old part of town and really wanted to project a retro atmosphere without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved both jobs by means of developing a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria created for Albany, Oregon medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Albany, Oregon.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Albany, Oregon travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Albany logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Albany logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Albany, Oregon publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a printed book given that it is often the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to confering a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Albany logo style used for advertising and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Albany, Oregon, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it appears that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that conveyed a spirit of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software designer the layout functions and legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Albany logo dsign using a graphic which seizes the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Albany, Oregon regional farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to design an identity that projects trust, success, and luxury.

Albany Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
