Bend, Oregon Logo Design

Virtually every new Bend organization understands that they require a logo, but few new business owners entirely grasp the key role their logo design can perform in their financial success, or precisely why one logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the success of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Bend, Oregon businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Bend, Oregon coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old section of the city and wanted to cast a vintage atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by creating a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Bend, Oregon medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Bend, Oregon.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Bend, Oregon traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bend logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Bend logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo understand how vital a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Bend, Oregon publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a printed book considering that it is often the first thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many instances one of the traits folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Bend logo design utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation includes an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Bend, Oregon, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to summarize how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which carried an atmosphere of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of creating just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian steed logo layout developed for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout includes a modified manuscript font which floats over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout features as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Bend logo design dsign with a graphic that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Bend, Oregon regional farm it was really created for a products broker, and this logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to develop a image that projected esteem, effectiveness, and affluence.

Bend Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo designed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
