POINTERS FOR SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not refund the amount of time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real world examples chances are they will never be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your personal vision for your organization. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Dallas LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs cultivate notable brands. We’ve done logo design work for ranchers, educational institutions, diamond miners, party planners, bistros, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you may have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to do, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of project we take on, logo, web site, trade show exhibit, or retail sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s projects to 3rd parties based outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and determines the terms of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Dallas company realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully recognize the vital role their organization’s logo will perform in their financial success, or precisely why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the viability of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Dallas businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its genesis comes from the brand branded onto livestock. These days a brand symbolizes pretty much anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to produce an image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone states the names Ferrari or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the origin of many branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded marketing agencies. When a person claims they are in marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps form the perception of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop websites and also software interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes as well as assumptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Dallas coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an old section of the city and wanted to cast a retro vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks via designing a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for Dallas medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun facility in Dallas.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Dallas travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Dallas logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Dallas logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral point of views on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Dallas book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Dallas logo layout used for marketing and a label style for Vintage Instance includes an archaic font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Dallas, design include an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a Dallas hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that communicated a feeling of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious course of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design developed for an equine ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct logo design customized to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. With an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately identifiable horse lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Dallas restaurant logo design a small restaurant, style consists of a changed script font style which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small dining establishment, design contains a changed script font which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software developer the style features and iconic Dallas element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Advance logo design developed for a Dallasindoor developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Dallas interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, research, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Dallas, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of the word progressed have been changed to connect directly into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Dallas logo design job was undertaken for a leadership specialist that helps business professionals to become more successful at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Dallas business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Dallas business logo design with an image which grabs the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Dallas company logo layout has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really produced for an Dallas regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to generate an identity that projected confidence, success, and wealth.

Dallas Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly encountering arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design made for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a renowned Dallas sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
