POINTERS ON DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not reimburse the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature actual examples odds are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Troutdale LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish notable brands. We’ve undertaken branding work for farmers, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee roasters, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you may have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are enlisted to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the kind of design project we take on, business logo, web page, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to organizations located outside the US. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Troutdale organization realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups fully grasp the essential role their logo will make in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and long term influence on the growth of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Troutdale companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of marking something so that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto animals. These days a brand signifies pretty much anything with an intention, whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target market, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person states the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of most branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded marketing and advertising companies. When someone says they are in marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also design websites as well as user interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, results and perceptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Troutdale coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an older part of town and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two jobs via creating a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Troutdale medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun center in Troutdale.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Troutdale traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Troutdale logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Troutdale logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest judgements on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how vital a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Troutdale publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book considering that it is usually the first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Troutdale logo design used for marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Case features an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Troutdale, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style produced for a Troutdale hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that projected an atmosphere of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout produced for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind logotype design tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately recognizable horse lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Troutdale Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, layout consists of a customized script font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software application designer the design attributes and iconic Troutdale component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Progress logo design created for a Troutdaleindoor designer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Troutdale interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who organizes, researches, collaborates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site inspections, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Troutdale, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of words progressed have actually been changed to link directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Troutdale logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership guide that helps business leaders to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Troutdale business logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Troutdale logo design with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Troutdale company logo layout has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really composed for an Troutdale regional farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to create an identity that projects self-confidence, success, and prosperity.

Troutdale Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo created for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a popular Troutdale sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the owner to produce a logo design that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
