Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Developing a brand identity or a logo design that is both unforgettable and expresses the story of who you are or what you do is a herculean endeavor. The challenge is to produce a design which is simple enough to be comprehended at a glance and transmits enough relevant information that it can articulate who you are. But no logo can totally tell your story or summarize your business, and moving down that road frequently produces a brand identity design that accomplishes neither. However, in skillful hands, it is possible to strike a balance between both and create a logo that both informs and emotes and reaching that sweet spot is what your business should hope for from their logo designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am a freelance branding specialist. For over twenty years I ‘ve been creating unforgettable logos and brand identity designs that tell stories and resonate with audiences. But don’t take my word for it, check out my work and discover for yourself. I don’t assert that I’m the greatest designer in the world, but, I do know what I am actually doing and my customers tend to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often said with such vehemence by people working in the branding industry, that a person might question why so many people in branding firms hate logo designs as much as they seem to. It is definitely true that your logo is not your business’s brand, however what does that mean for a business that has no logo? One thing is certain, it all but guarantees that a brand with no logo will be faceless and quickly forgotten.

Without a visual identity, an organization’s brand is really nothing more than a fading memory because customers would have virtually nothing to anchor their experiences too.

Some compare a business’s logo to a smile or a handshake which is slightly accurate, however it’s also much more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also acts as the cornerstone of a company’s brand image. A logo serves as an anchor since the entire brand experience is anchored to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, because a cornerstone is the first stone laid when building the foundation of the structure above it, and once laid it will be the reference point for every stone that comes after it. A logo serves in the same way, it is a foundational building block that supports the organization it represents, and it continuously serves as a reference point that guides a brand as it develops.

ImageCo is a brand identity firm and our goal is to aid our clients lay that cornerstone and drop that anchor. We help businesses look established, more refined, and more knowledgeable. This ensures that our clients will always be taken seriously, and are not only entitled to a seat at the table, but look like they should be seated at the head of that table.

Bethel Park LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners cultivate notable brand identities. We have performed logo design work for farmers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to perform, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of project we take on, business logo, website, trade show exhibition, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Bethel Park entrepreneur realizes that they require a logo, yet few start ups fully realize the pivotal role their organization’s logo will play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo works better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term influence on the growth of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Bethel Park companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something so that it can be recognized, its origin originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand represents basically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone says the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the beginning of most branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When someone states they are in marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop sites as well as software interfaces. The vital function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of affecting activities, end results and perceptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Bethel Park coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an older part of town and wished to visualize a retro vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by developing a business logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs made for Bethel Park clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a household fun facility in Bethel Park.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Bethel Park travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bethel Park logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Bethel Park logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial judgements on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo comprehend how crucial a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of difficulties, however the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Bethel Park book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a printed book because it is often the first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Bethel Park logo layout utilized for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Bethel Park, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Bethel Park hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which communicated a sense of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design created for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique custom logo design customized to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Bethel Park Coffee shop logo style a small dining establishment, style consists of a customized script typeface which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small restaurant, design contains a customized script font which floats over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software designer the layout attributes and also legendary Bethel Park element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Develop logo design created for a Bethel Parkindoor developer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Bethel Park interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, explores, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Bethel Park, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have been customized to link directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Bethel Park logo design project was carried out for a management expert that helps business leaders to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Bethel Park business logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Bethel Park logo design along with an image that seizes the interest of traffic and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Bethel Park company logo design has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Bethel Park regional farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to create an identity that projects self-confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

Bethel Park Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a well-known Bethel Park sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
