STRATEGIES ON PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real world samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

West Chester LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners grow memorable brand identities. We have done brand design work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have found in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are enlisted to perform, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of design project we undertake, business logo, web site, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to agencies based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new West Chester entrepreneur knows they probably need a logo, but few start-ups fully comprehend the vital role their logo design can perform in their success, or the reason that one logo works better than another. A logo has an immediate and long term impact on the viability of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help West Chester companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be identified, its foundation originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with a motive, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the target market will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded marketing companies. When somebody claims they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites as well as software interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes and perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a West Chester coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old part of the area and hoped to cast a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks via designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for West Chester medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun center in West Chester.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - created for West Chester travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Chester logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

West Chester logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get impartial point of views on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for West Chester book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most vital part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many occurrences one of the things individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

West Chester logo design made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in West Chester, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a West Chester hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which projected an atmosphere of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian horse logo style produced for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original logo concept fashioned to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a different head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most immediately identifiable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A West Chester restaurant logo style a tiny restaurant, design consists of a changed manuscript font which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, design consists of a changed manuscript font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout functions and also famous West Chester component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo design created for a West Chesterindoor developer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a West Chester interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, explores, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, site assessments, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in West Chester, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of words advanced have actually been customized to link directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This West Chester logo design project was done for a management coach that assists business professionals to develop into more efficient at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A West Chester business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their West Chester logo design with an illustration which pulls in the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this West Chester company logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really created for an West Chester area farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to design a brand mark that projected esteem, effectiveness, and luxury.

West Chester Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo designed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a famous West Chester sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
