Cumberland Logo Design

Nearly every new Cumberland venture understands that they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the vital role their company logo will make in their financial success, or precisely why one logo design functions far better than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the success of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Cumberland companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand consideration, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Cumberland coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an older part of the city and really wanted to visualize a retro feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by developing a trademark design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for Cumberland clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog made for a family fun facility in Cumberland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Cumberland travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cumberland logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Cumberland logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral viewpoints on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Cumberland publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most crucial part of a published book because it is often the primary thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many instances one of the items consumers usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Cumberland logo design used for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Cumberland, design include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which communicated a spirit of simplicity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo design for a software developer the style features and renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Cumberland business logo dsign along with a graphic which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t really composed for an Cumberland regional farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce a brand mark that projects self-assurance, success, and luxury.
Logo designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
