Lincoln Logo Design

Each and every new Lincoln company realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely understand the key role their logo can make in their success, or the reason that one logo design functions far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long-term effect on the growth of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Lincoln companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Lincoln coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old part of the city and really wanted to visualize a retro feel without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by developing a sign design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria designed for Lincoln medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun center in Lincoln.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Lincoln travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lincoln logo but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lincoln logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to share it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s share of difficulties, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Lincoln publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems like that in many occurrences one of the traits consumers tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was surely a victory.

Lincoln logo design made use of for advertising and a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Lincoln, style include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which conveyed a spirit of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout attributes and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Lincoln business logo dsign with an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Lincoln regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a image that projected self-confidence, financial success, and affluence.
Logo design created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
