Newport, Rhode Island Logo Design

Nearly every new Newport venture understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully realize the essential role their logo can make in their success, or why one logo design works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long term impact on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Newport, Rhode Island businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand contemplation, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Newport, Rhode Island coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an old part of town and really wanted to visualize a retro tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by means of developing a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs designed for Newport, Rhode Island medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Newport, Rhode Island.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Newport, Rhode Island travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Newport logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Newport logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of challenges, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Newport, Rhode Island publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Newport logo layout utilized for advertising and a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Newport, Rhode Island, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it seems that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that communicated a spirit of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead crafted a business logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the main focus on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application developer the design features and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Newport logo dsign with an image that pulls in the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really created for an Newport, Rhode Island regional farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to create a graphic that projects self-confidence, financial success, and prosperity.

Newport Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo created for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is similar to a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
