Smithfield Logo Design

Nearly every new Smithfield company realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully realize the crucial role their logo can take in their success, or the reason that one business logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and lasting effect on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Smithfield businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Smithfield coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older section of the town and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by designing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and also germs developed for Smithfield clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family fun center in Smithfield.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Smithfield travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Smithfield logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Smithfield logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Smithfield publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most vital part of a published book considering that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it looks like that in many cases one of the aspects consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Smithfield logo style made use of for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Instance features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Smithfield, design include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that conveyed a spirit of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo layout produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application designer the design features and also famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Develop logo layout developed for a Smithfield indoor developer, style function a series of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of the word progressed have been modified to connect directly right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Smithfield logo design assignment was carried out for a management coach that aids business leaders to develop into more successful at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to market their secondhand products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Smithfield business logo dsign using an illustration that pulls in the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t really created for an Smithfield regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce a image that projects esteem, financial success, and luxury.
Logo designed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is similar to a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
