Columbia Logo Design

Nearly every new Columbia venture knows they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly comprehend the essential role their company logo will play in their success, or precisely why one business logo works more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and long-term influence on the success of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Columbia companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Columbia coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an older part of the town and wanted to project a retro feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs via creating a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Columbia medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable facility in Columbia.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Columbia traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Columbia logo design but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Columbia logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased opinions on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their business logo recognize how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Columbia publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, however it is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances one of the traits folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Columbia logo layout utilized for marketing and a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Columbia, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it seems that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that projected an atmosphere of tranquility and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of making simply a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style produced for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique logotype concept tailored to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable equine breeds in the world.

Logo style for a software designer the style attributes as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

Progress logo style produced for a Columbia interior developer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Columbia logo design dsign utilizing an illustration which grabs the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Columbia area farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design a graphic that projected trust, financial success, and affluence.
Logo design designed for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a popular sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
