Hilton Head Island, South Carolina Logo Design

Every new Hilton Head Island company realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely realize the vital role their logo design will play in their success, or exactly why one logo functions more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Hilton Head Island, South Carolina businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Hilton Head Island, South Carolina coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an older section of town and wanted to project a nostalgic vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by developing a symbol concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Hilton Head Island, South Carolina clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a household enjoyable center in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Hilton Head Island, South Carolina travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hilton Head Island logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Hilton Head Island logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo comprehend how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of challenges, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Hilton Head Island, South Carolina publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most crucial part of a printed book given that it is often the primary thing a person views in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many cases 1 of the traits individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to confering a good sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Hilton Head Island logo design used for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, design include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really really love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which carried a sense of peace and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious path of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is generally the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software program designer the layout functions and renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Hilton Head Island logo dsign utilizing an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really produced for an Hilton Head Island, South Carolina area farm it was in reality created for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce a graphic that projects confidence, success, and wealth.

Hilton Head Island Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
