Rapid City Logo Design

Each and every new Rapid City business understands that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully understand the key role their logo will perform in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design functions better than another. A logo design has a critical and sustaining effect on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Rapid City companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Rapid City coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older section of the community and hoped to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via developing a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Rapid City medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun center in Rapid City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Rapid City travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Rapid City logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Rapid City logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Rapid City publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most essential part of a published book given that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many occurrences one of the items individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Rapid City logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an antiquated typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Rapid City, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that conveyed a sense of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo style for a software developer the layout attributes and renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Rapid City logo dsign along with an illustration that pulls in the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo design has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Rapid City area farm it was actually devised for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
