Nashville, Tennessee Logo Design

Nearly every new Nashville company understands that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully grasp the key role their business logo can take in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design performs far better than another. A business logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the financial success of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Nashville, Tennessee companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Nashville, Tennessee coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an older part of the area and wished to cast a nostalgic feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by means of developing a logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs developed for Nashville, Tennessee medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Nashville, Tennessee.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Nashville, Tennessee traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Nashville logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Nashville logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest point of views on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of hurdles, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Nashville, Tennessee book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a published book given that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems that in many cases one of the traits consumers usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Nashville logo style utilized for marketing and a label style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Nashville, Tennessee, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that carried a sense of relaxation and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application programmer the style attributes as well as renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Nashville logo dsign with an illustration that seizes the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Nashville, Tennessee regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this logo design was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to produce a image that projects confidence, success, and affluence.

Nashville Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a well-known sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
