Oak Ridge Logo Design

Nearly every new Oak Ridge organization understands that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely grasp the crucial role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Oak Ridge companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Oak Ridge coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old part of the area and hoped to project a nostalgic feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by means of designing a trademark concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria designed for Oak Ridge medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog developed for a household fun facility in Oak Ridge.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Oak Ridge traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Oak Ridge logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Oak Ridge logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design understand how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of challenges, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Oak Ridge publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most crucial part of a printed book since it is often the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the items consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Oak Ridge logo design utilized for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Oak Ridge, style include an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it seems that every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which related a sense of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo design for a software developer the style attributes and legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Oak Ridge logo design dsign using an illustration that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Oak Ridge area farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this particular creative logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to design a graphic that projected assurance, financial success, and affluence.
Logo designed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
