Bedford Logo Design

Every new Bedford venture understands that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly are aware of the crucial role their business logo can perform in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo functions better than another. A logo has an instant and long term impact on the financial success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Bedford businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Bedford coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the town and wanted to visualize a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks via developing a company logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for Bedford clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog designed for a family members fun center in Bedford.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Bedford traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bedford logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Bedford logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Bedford book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, however it really is the most crucial part of a printed book since it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects folks usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was surely a victory.

Bedford logo design used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Bedford, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it appears that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design developed for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that projected an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the focus on the feeling that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style features and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Bedford logo dsign utilizing a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Bedford area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this brand was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to develop a graphic that projects trust, financial success, and affluence.
Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to create a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
