POINTERS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not reimburse the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real world samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to reflect your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Carrollton LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners develop notable brands. We have undertaken brand identity design work for mechanics, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of size or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of design project we take on, brand identity design, web page, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s work to contractors located outside the US. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your project and dictates the terms of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Carrollton entrepreneur knows they require a logo, however few start ups entirely realize the pivotal role their company logo can play in their financial success, or exactly why one business logo functions better than another. A logo has an instant and long-term effect on the growth of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Carrollton businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something so that it could be recognized, its foundation comes from the mark burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand indicates basically anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are each from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of most branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When somebody claims they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, and brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites and also software interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results and also perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Carrollton coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an older section of town and wished to cast an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks via designing a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs made for Carrollton medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun center in Carrollton.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Carrollton travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Carrollton logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Carrollton logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get objective point of views on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Carrollton book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

Carrollton logo style used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case features an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Carrollton, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a Carrollton hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which conveyed a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a steed ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind organization logo concept fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable horse breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Carrollton Coffee shop logo layout a small dining establishment, design includes a modified manuscript typeface which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, design contains a customized script typeface which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the style features as well as iconic Carrollton element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Develop logo design created for a Carrolltonindoor designer, layout attribute a series of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Carrollton interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Carrollton, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been changed to connect directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Carrollton logo design assignment was carried out for a leadership expert that aids business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Carrollton business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Carrollton business logo design utilizing an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Carrollton company logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Carrollton area farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this company was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design a brand mark that projected assurance, financial success, and affluence.

Carrollton Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design developed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a famous Carrollton sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
