TIPS ON DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not reimburse the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real world samples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Del Rio LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brand identities. We have undertaken branding work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, diners, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method guarantees that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have stumbled upon on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are brought on board to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we accept, logo design, business website, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s work to contractors based outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the price of your design project and imposes the terms of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Del Rio entrepreneur realizes that they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely realize the essential role their logo design will perform in their success, or exactly why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and long term effect on the financial success of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Del Rio companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and the act of marking something to make sure that it can be recognized, its origin originates from the mark burned onto animals. Today a brand signifies basically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the beginning of most branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing firms. When a person states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some identity designers also develop web sites and also user interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of influencing actions, results and also understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Del Rio coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an older section of the area and really wanted to cast a nostalgic tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by creating a business logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs created for Del Rio clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family fun center in Del Rio.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Del Rio travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Del Rio logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Del Rio logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Del Rio book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a printed book due to the fact that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems that in many cases 1 of the aspects people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Del Rio logo design utilized for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Situation includes an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Del Rio, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Del Rio hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which projected a sense of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind logo concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having an unique head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Del Rio restaurant logo style a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a customized manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, style includes a changed script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software application developer the layout features and legendary Del Rio element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the significance behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo layout created for a Del Riointerior developer, style function a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Del Rio interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who plans, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Del Rio, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have actually been modified to link straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Del Rio logo design job was completed for a leadership expert that enables business professionals to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Del Rio business logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Del Rio logo design using an illustration that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Del Rio company logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really composed for an Del Rio regional farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a image that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

Del Rio Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is similar to a renowned Del Rio sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the owner to create a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
