TIPS ON FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain actual samples odds are they will not be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s objective is to echo your personal vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Katy LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brands. We’ve performed branding work for builders, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you may have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. No matter the type of design project we undertake, logo design, web site, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to contractors located outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your design project and imposes the terms of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Katy organization realizes that they need a logo, however few start ups thoroughly comprehend the crucial role their logo can play in their success, or precisely why one logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Katy businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to store signs a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something so that it can be identified, its origin originates from the brand burned onto animals. These days a brand indicates pretty much anything with an objective, regardless if it be profit or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person says the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of many branding agencies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded advertising and marketing firms. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also build sites as well as software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, results as well as perceptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Katy coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older section of the city and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by developing a logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Katy medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a family enjoyable center in Katy.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - created for Katy traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Katy logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Katy logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Katy book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a published book given that it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases 1 of the traits individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a success.

Katy logo style made use of for marketing and a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Katy, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style produced for a Katy hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that communicated a feeling of ease and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious course of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design created for a horse ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original custom logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having a distinctive head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Katy restaurant logo layout a small dining establishment, style contains a modified script font which floats over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, layout includes a customized manuscript font style which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the style features and also iconic Katy aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Advance logo layout produced for a Katyinterior designer, layout feature a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Katy interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who prepares, explores, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Katy, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have been customized to tie straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Katy logo design assignment was done for a leadership consultant that aids business professionals to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Katy business logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Katy logo design design along with a graphic that pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Katy company logo design has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Katy regional farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this particular brand was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to make a brand mark that projects confidence, financial success, and luxury.

Katy Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a popular Katy sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
