TIPS FOR SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real life examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Lancaster LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners cultivate memorable brands. We have undertaken brand design work for mechanics, colleges, heart surgeons, party planners, cafes, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have come across online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are hired to perform, we do in-house. No matter the type of project we take on, brand identity design, web page, trade show exhibition, or retail sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the US. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your project and determines the conditions of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Lancaster company understands that they probably need a logo, but few start ups fully recognize the crucial role their logo design can play in their financial success, or exactly why one logo performs far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lancaster businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of noting something to make sure that it can be recognized, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an intention, regardless if it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why people get most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of most branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded advertising and marketing firms. When someone states they are in advertising many people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when someone says “I am in branding”… it simply sounds much more impressive, perhaps it’s since most individuals do not recognize what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual components of a product or company that influence perceptions. This mostly consists of the name, the logo, the product packaging, the different colors used however can additionally include audio, illumination, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps shape the public image of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop websites as well as software interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Lancaster coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of town and hoped to visualize a retro vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks via designing a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs made for Lancaster medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Lancaster.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Lancaster travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the images they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lancaster logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lancaster logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Lancaster publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a published book since it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances 1 of the traits individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Lancaster logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Lancaster, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a Lancaster hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which conveyed a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious route of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design created for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original brand concept fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Lancaster Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, design includes a customized manuscript font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the style features and also legendary Lancaster aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Advance logo design created for a Lancasterinterior developer, style function a series of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lancaster interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lancaster, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have actually been modified to connect straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Lancaster logo design job was undertaken for a leadership consultant that aids business professionals to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Lancaster business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Lancaster logo design design utilizing a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Lancaster company logo layout has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually created for an Lancaster regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to produce an identity that projects self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Lancaster Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo designed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is similar to a well-known Lancaster sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
