TIPS ON PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Lufkin LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping business owners cultivate notable brands. We have done brand design work for farmers, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you probably have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are hired to perform, we perform in-house. No matter the type of design project we undertake, logo, web page, trade show display, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s work to agencies located outside the US. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Lufkin organization knows they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely recognize the key role their company logo will perform in their success, or why one logo performs more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining impact on the growth of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lufkin businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need deliberation, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of noting something to make sure that it could be recognized, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto animals. These days a brand symbolizes pretty much anything with an intention, regardless if it be earnings or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why individuals purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the beginning of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the image of a firm, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop web sites and software interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results as well as perceptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Lufkin coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening up in an older section of the community and hoped to project a vintage atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both tasks by designing a business logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Lufkin medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Lufkin.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Lufkin travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lufkin logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lufkin logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo comprehend how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo design project has it’s portion of hurdles, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Lufkin publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the things people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Lufkin logo layout utilized for advertising and a tag design for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Lufkin, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it appears that each and every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a Lufkin hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that communicated a sense of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style created for an equine ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct custom logo concept fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately identifiable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Lufkin Coffee shop logo layout a small restaurant, style includes a changed script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small dining establishment, layout contains a changed script font style which hovers over a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the design attributes and iconic Lufkin component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo layout created for a Lufkinindoor designer, layout function a series of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lufkin interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, researches, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lufkin, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have been modified to tie straight into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Lufkin logo design job was completed for a leadership coach that assists business leaders to become more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Lufkin business logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Lufkin business logo design with a graphic which garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Lufkin company logo design has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Lufkin regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce an identity that projects trust, success, and affluence.

Lufkin Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo developed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a renowned Lufkin sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
