Midland Logo Design

Virtually every new Midland venture knows they need a logo, but few new business owners fully are aware of the pivotal role their company logo will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo functions better than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting effect on the growth of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Midland businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Midland coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the city and hoped to visualize a retro tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the jobs via designing a sign design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Midland medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a family fun facility in Midland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Midland traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Midland logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Midland logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get honest point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s portion of hurdles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Midland publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a published book given that it is often the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems that in many occurrences one of the aspects people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Midland logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Midland, layout include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it appears that every single dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that projected a feeling of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious course of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the importance on the perception that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo design developed for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind creative logo design tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With an unique head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable equine types in the world.

Logo layout for a software application developer the style features and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Midland logo dsign using an image that grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Midland regional farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to make a image that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo made for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a renowned sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
