STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real life samples chances are they won’t be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s objective is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Rockwall LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping business owners cultivate notable brand identities. We have undertaken logo design work for farmers, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retailers, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

Something that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might possibly have come across in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of project we take on, business logo, website design, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your project and dictates the terms of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Rockwall entrepreneur knows they need a logo, yet few start-ups fully realize the crucial role their logo design can perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term impact on the success of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Rockwall businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of marking something so that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the mark burned onto livestock. Today a brand signifies virtually anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the history of the majority of branding firms you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded advertising firms. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also design web sites and user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, results and assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Rockwall coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an old section of the community and wanted to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both jobs via designing a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria created for Rockwall medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family members fun center in Rockwall.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Rockwall traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Rockwall logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Rockwall logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Rockwall book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many cases one of the traits consumers usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Rockwall logo design made use of for marketing and a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Rockwall, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects considering that it appears that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style produced for a Rockwall hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design which communicated an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the attention on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind brand design fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having an unique head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Rockwall Coffee shop logo design a little dining establishment, style consists of a changed script font which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little dining establishment, style contains a modified script font which hovers over a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the style functions and famous Rockwall element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Develop logo layout developed for a Rockwallinterior designer, style feature a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Rockwall interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, researches, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site examinations, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Rockwall, the characters for letter V and also A in center of words progressed have been modified to link directly right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Rockwall logo design assignment was carried out for a management expert that helps business professionals to develop into more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Rockwall business logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Rockwall logo design using an image which grabs the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Rockwall company logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Rockwall area farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to make a graphic that projected self-assurance, success, and prosperity.

Rockwall Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is reminiscent of a popular Rockwall sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
