TIPS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples odds are they will not be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your personal vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Saginaw LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop unforgettable brands. We have performed branding work for builders, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to perform, we do in-house. No matter the type of design project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show banners, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s work to agencies located outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your project and determines the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Saginaw entrepreneur realizes that they need a logo, but few start ups thoroughly comprehend the crucial role their company logo will make in their financial success, or exactly why one business logo functions better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting influence on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Saginaw companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of noting something to ensure that it can be distinguished, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand symbolizes basically anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are both from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the target market can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone says the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals buy those brands. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the beginning of most branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When a person claims they are in marketing most people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, outcomes and understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Saginaw coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older section of the community and wished to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by means of designing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Saginaw medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Saginaw.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Saginaw travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Saginaw logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Saginaw logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Saginaw book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a printed book since it is usually the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items folks usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Saginaw logo design utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Case includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Saginaw, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Saginaw hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that communicated a sense of ease and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a business logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed an original logotype concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a different head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Saginaw Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design includes a customized script typeface which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a modified script typeface which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application developer the style attributes and iconic Saginaw component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Evolve logo layout developed for a Saginawindoor developer, layout feature a series of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Saginaw interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Saginaw, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of the word progressed have actually been changed to link directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Saginaw logo design project was undertaken for a leadership advisor that enables business professionals to develop into more successful at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Saginaw business logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Saginaw logo design utilizing an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Saginaw company logo style has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Saginaw area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to develop a brand mark that projected self-confidence, financial success, and wealth.

Saginaw Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for ostensibly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is similar to a well-known Saginaw sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
