POINTERS ON CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples chances are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Universal City LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We’ve performed logo design work for builders, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you may have stumbled upon in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are retained to do, we perform in-house. No matter the type of project we take on, brand identity design, website, trade show exhibition, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s projects to organizations based outside the US. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how you and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Universal City company realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly grasp the crucial role their company logo can make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design performs better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term effect on the viability of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Universal City businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the brand burned onto livestock. These days a brand indicates pretty much anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody says the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often rebranded advertising and marketing companies. When somebody claims they are in marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person says “I am in branding”… it just sounds much more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that the majority of people don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual components of a product or company that affect understandings. This mainly includes the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors utilized yet can additionally consist of audio, lights, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and software interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes and perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Universal City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old part of the community and wished to project a retro feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by means of developing a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Universal City clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a family fun center in Universal City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Universal City travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Universal City logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Universal City logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Universal City book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a published book since it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it looks like that in many occurrences one of the traits individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Universal City logo design utilized for advertising as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Universal City, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a Universal City hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo that carried a sense of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead created a logo design that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is more often than not the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the attention on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original brand concept fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With an unique head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Universal City Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a modified script font style which hovers above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, design contains a customized script typeface which hovers over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the style functions and also iconic Universal City element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Advance logo layout produced for a Universal Cityinterior developer, style attribute a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Universal City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who prepares, explores, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, research, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Universal City, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of the word advanced have been changed to connect straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Universal City logo design job was performed for a leadership advisor that aids business leaders to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Universal City business logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Universal City logo design along with an illustration that captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Universal City company logo style has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really produced for an Universal City regional farm it was in reality devised for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to design a graphic that projected self-assurance, success, and wealth.

Universal City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for externally dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a renowned Universal City sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
