TIPS FOR FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the amount of time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be judged by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life examples odds are they will not be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Highland LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds grow notable brand identities. We’ve undertaken logo design work for ranchers, schools, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee shops, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are brought on board to perform, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we take on, business logo, web site, trade show exhibit, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Highland organization knows they require a logo, but few new business owners fully recognize the key role their logo design can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo works far better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting influence on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Highland businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of noting something so that it can be distinguished, its foundation originates from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand represents practically anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a target market, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person says the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those products. Brand image is why people identify with specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded advertising firms. When someone states they are in marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop sites and software interfaces. The vital function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of influencing actions, results and understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Highland coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening up in an old part of the city and wished to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by means of designing a trademark concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Highland medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Highland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Highland traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Highland logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Highland logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get neutral opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo job has it’s portion of challenges, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Highland publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most critical part of a printed book since it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many instances one of the aspects consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Highland logo layout made use of for advertising and a label layout for Vintage Situation features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Highland, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a Highland hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that projected a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design created for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind logotype design customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having a different head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily identifiable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Highland Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a modified manuscript font style which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a small restaurant, design contains a modified script font style which hovers over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout attributes and also legendary Highland element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Evolve logo design created for a Highlandinterior developer, style function a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Highland interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, explores, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, research, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Highland, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of the word progressed have been modified to connect straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Highland logo design job was done for a leadership specialist that enables business professionals to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Highland business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Highland logo design along with an illustration that seizes the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Highland company logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Highland regional farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this particular trademark was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to develop a graphic that projects esteem, financial success, and affluence.

Highland Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a renowned Highland sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo design that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
