TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real life examples chances are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your organization. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Washington LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs grow notable brands. We’ve performed brand identity design work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s projects to companies located outside the US. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your design project and determines the terms of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Washington organization knows they probably need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly recognize the vital role their business logo can play in their success, or exactly why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and lasting influence on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Washington companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its origin originates from the brand burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are both from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to develop an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising companies. When somebody states they are in marketing many people will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when a person states “I’m in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, maybe it’s since the majority of people don’t fully understand what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and kind of sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that explains the visual aspects of a product or business that influence perceptions. This largely includes the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors utilized but can also consist of audio, lighting, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also design web sites and user interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of affecting activities, outcomes as well as assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Washington coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older part of the community and wanted to cast an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via developing a custom logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs made for Washington medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family members enjoyable center in Washington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Washington travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Washington logo but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Washington logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Washington book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many cases one of the aspects consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Washington logo layout utilized for marketing and a label design for Vintage Case includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Washington, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a Washington hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which projected a sense of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is generally the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian horse logo layout created for a steed ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind brand concept customized to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With a distinctive head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately recognizable equine types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Washington Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, layout includes a modified script font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout consists of a customized script font which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software programmer the style features and also legendary Washington element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Progress logo style produced for a Washingtoninterior developer, layout attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Washington interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who prepares, researches, collaborates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site assessments, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Washington, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of the word progressed have been changed to connect directly right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Washington logo design assignment was carried out for a management expert that enables business leaders to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Washington business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Washington logo design design using an illustration which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Washington company logo style has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t actually designed for an Washington area farm it was in reality devised for a products broker, and this trademark was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to develop a graphic that projected confidence, financial success, and prosperity.

Washington Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design created for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is evocative a renowned Washington sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to create a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
