STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design company offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be judged by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life examples odds are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

West Valley City LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish unforgettable brands. We’ve performed logo design work for farmers, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have come across online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are enlisted to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the kind of project we take on, brand identity design, website design, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s projects to agencies based outside the United States. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and determines the conditions of how we do business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new West Valley City company understands that they require a logo, yet few start ups thoroughly recognize the pivotal role their logo will make in their financial success, or why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting impact on the growth of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help West Valley City businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need consideration, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of noting something so that it could be distinguished, its origin originates from the mark branded onto animals. Today a brand represents pretty much anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are all from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the origin of most branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded marketing and advertising firms. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop web sites as well as software interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes as well as assumptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a West Valley City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old section of town and hoped to visualize a retro vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs via creating a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs created for West Valley City medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable center in West Valley City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for West Valley City travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  West Valley City logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

West Valley City logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get honest judgements on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of obstacles, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for West Valley City publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a printed book considering that it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

West Valley City logo layout made use of for marketing and a tag design for Vintage Case features an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in West Valley City, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a West Valley City hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which carried a feeling of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a business logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo style developed for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique brand concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an unique head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A West Valley City restaurant logo style a small dining establishment, style consists of a customized manuscript typeface which floats above a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small restaurant, design consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software programmer the layout attributes as well as legendary West Valley City component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Advance logo design created for a West Valley Cityindoor designer, layout function a collection of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a West Valley City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in West Valley City, the personalities for letter V and A in center of the word progressed have actually been modified to link directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular West Valley City logo design assignment was done for a management coach that assists business professionals to develop into more efficient at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A West Valley City business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their West Valley City logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this West Valley City company logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually created for an West Valley City area farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this logo was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to create a graphic that projected assurance, success, and opulence.

West Valley City Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo created for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is similar to a renowned West Valley City sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
