POINTERS ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not refund the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real life samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Colchester LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs develop memorable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand design work for ranchers, educational institutions, diamond miners, party planners, coffee roasters, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

Something that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have found in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are brought on board to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, business logo, web page, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to 3rd parties based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Colchester entrepreneur understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully grasp the essential role their organization’s logo will make in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo works better than another. A logo design has a critical and lasting effect on the prosperity of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Colchester businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its origin comes from the brand burned onto animals. Today a brand represents virtually anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone states the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of many branding companies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When a person states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a type of visual design which helps shape the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites and also user interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, results as well as assumptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Colchester coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of the city and hoped to visualize a vintage tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by designing a custom logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Colchester clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a family members enjoyable center in Colchester.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - developed for Colchester travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Colchester logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Colchester logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo job has it’s portion of difficulties, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Colchester book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many instances one of the things individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Colchester logo style used for marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Colchester, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a Colchester hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that projected a sense of ease and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design produced for an equine ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind logo concept tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily identifiable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Colchester restaurant logo layout a small dining establishment, style consists of a customized manuscript font which floats above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny restaurant, design consists of a customized manuscript font which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout attributes and also renowned Colchester component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the significance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Progress logo layout created for a Colchesterinterior developer, style attribute a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Colchester interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, location examinations, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Colchester, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of the word progressed have been changed to tie directly right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Colchester logo design assignment was performed for a leadership advisor that enables business leaders to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Colchester business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Colchester business logo design with a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Colchester company logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually developed for an Colchester area farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular company logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to make a graphic that projects esteem, financial success, and opulence.

Colchester Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design developed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular Colchester sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
